The 3C's button: what the technician wrote, and what the customer read
Every recommended repair in techWALL carries three notes: Complaint, Cause, Correction. Technicians write them in shorthand. One button rewrites them for the person paying for the repair, and the advisor approves before anything sends.

A technician finishes a multipoint inspection and flags the rear brakes. On the techWALL Criticals tab the recommendation carries three notes, the 3C's every service department already knows:
- Complaint, what the customer is experiencing: cust states grinding noise rr on stop
- Cause, why the work is needed: rr pads 2mm, rotors scored/heat checked
- Correction, what the shop will do: r&r rr pads + rotors, road test
That is exactly how it should be written for the shop. It is also close to unreadable for the customer, who is about to be asked to approve the repair from their phone on the strength of it.
One button, three rewrites
The 3C's button sits on the repair line. When the advisor clicks it, techWALL rewrites all three notes in plain language, using the op code, the op-code description and the parts on the line as its source. It does not invent a diagnosis. It explains the one the technician already made.
The same line, after the button:
- Complaint: You mentioned a grinding sound from the back of the vehicle when you brake.
- Cause: The rear brake pads are worn to about 2 mm, and the rotors they press against show scoring and heat marks from metal-on-metal contact.
- Correction: We'll replace the rear pads and both rear rotors, then road test to confirm the noise is gone.
The advisor stays in charge
Nothing is written to the repair order until the advisor says so. The rewrite opens as a preview beside the original. The advisor can edit any of the three boxes, regenerate the set, or apply it to the line. Only the boxes your store has active are generated, so a process that does not use a Cause note never gets one. The technician's original notes are never overwritten silently.
Why it matters for approvals
techWALL sends estimates for approval by text, with the inspection video attached. An explanation the customer understands, sitting next to a video of the worn part, is the difference between an approval before the customer leaves the lot and a declined line the BDC has to chase next month.
The 3C's button is part of techWALL for every store, not a separate product. To see it work on a live repair line, book a demo.
